Littlegems childcare

Hi my name is Gemma Britton and I am 25 years old, I live in Ramsgate with my husband, a lively 6-year-old daughter, and 2 mad cats.

The staff hear at 'Little Gems' comprises of myself, Shiona my assistant, my husband John and my mother.
My mother and John will not be full time workers but are both registered as assistants so that there is always some backup care, Shiona is presently working towards registering to be a childminder in her own right but will still remain working at 'Little Gems', she is also expecting her own son and he will arrive some time in February to join the team.

I started childminding as I believe in the rights for parents to be able to access good quality affordable childcare that caters for all the families needs. I am aiming to provide a safe homely environment where children's social, emotional and educational needs are met, where I will offer good quality nutritional food. In the after school club I will offer assistance with any homework or reading and older children will be able to have use of a computer if needed. I understand as a working mother myself the worries and difficulties in leaving children in the care of others and see this as a three way partnership the children you and myself. To help alleviate some of the emotional difficulties encountered by parents I will keep daily diary to keep you informed of your child's day, I will also keep a special memories scrapbook of photos, quotes and pictures for parents to treasure forever.

Little Gems' is set in a home setting and is not designed to be a palatial home but a fun, warm, friendly and stimulating environment where children can reach their full potential by learning through play.

'Little Gems' has a small sensory garden with playhouse and sandpit but can only provide so much outdoor play for children. Regular outings will be made to both of Ramsgate's beaches Ellington park, king George V park, Nethercourt park, the shops and library, other outings will be made but letters will go out prior to the outing.

I have 2 cats one named Winston and one named Lucifer. Lucifer is very friendly but doesn't like to be picked up and pulled about so children will be encouraged to treat him with respect and be gentle, Winston is also very friendly and gentle but children will again be encouraged to treat him with respect.

Detail: I have had lots of experience in early years, along with working at the Royal school for the Deaf and The Bradstow School.
